I discovered several themes in the papers I read. The first theme was about exploiting younger minds to sell products and have a more loyal fan base   which is obviously unethical but corporations have to make money somehow so why area about ethics. The second them I discovered was about product placements and how it affects people that play video games it mostly has positive affects if used correctly. The third theme was the size of the markets in different years showing how it scales compared to advertising and game budgets in different years. The fourth Theme I found was about the addictive nature of video games and how it can be exploited for profit this is similar to the exploitation of children but on a broader scale. The fifth theme was about how much does traditional ads such as banner ads i

This week’s unity tutorial wasn’t very difficult it was mostly about research however I do not feel that I done to well in it and this is because due to lack of time usually I do my unity tutorial on Sunday and the reading task trough out the week. This week however I did the unity tutorial on a Thursday due to the game jam begging tomorrow and continuing throughout the weekend. This means I spent less time on the unity and reading task than I would like too because I also do other subjects on Thursday and I cannot give up on this e subjects. The unity tutorial was not a hard one learning about more VR technology and going off to do my own research was useful to understand how XR works. Another query I have is the game jam itself as we do it from Friday to Sunday depending on how much you commit to it and from what I seen the web page it is the few

I continued doing the tutorial form last weeks lab after jo0t figuring out how to launch the apk on my phone I used unity to explore the world as best I could. This week however it was less based on the world in unity and more information on xr itself. There was a lot of info on mr which blends reality with the real world an app example that was given was Pokémon go. I think its useful to know about the dangers it gave so that developers can try and avoid them. I also think it’s useful to know what the compotes of how your phone determines in what area you are etc. There was another part of the tutorial that I couldn’t do with placing the Vuforia just wouldn’t work I would have like to see what it could do but it seems to be very similar to the snapchat but it a

The unity task for me is a struggle as I did not fully complete it I was setting up to explore the vr museum with my phone i set up unity to be able to launch the application directly to my phone. The problem was that when the app launched there was a black screen on my phone and it quickly crashed when I tried another phone it wouldn’t detect it I tried looking on forums to figure to this issue but I feel like I broke unity more.   I sadly never resolved this and I am afraid that I will not be able to continue and will have to the 2d tutorial which I don’t really have a interest in doing which is a shame.

This tutorial was mostly based on teaching you what xr is and reviewing some xr apps on your phone. I reviewed snapchat as it is one of the most popular xr apps here is the review. Snapchat on a lower range android phone . Snapchat is a messaging app that at its core allows people to have very secret conversations.   (https://static.thenounproject.com/png/342863-200.png) Hi in this week’s reading task we had to create a research strategy for our chosen topics. My chosen topic was video game marketing. I choose some basic words associated with marketing itself. Some words where marketing, advertising, selling, buying, promoting, Markets. These words then helped me find topics on my chosen subject. I would then go onto the TUDublin library and search up some journals and papers on the words followed with game for example game marketing or promoting games. This gave me a wide variety of sources to choose from. I then got to work in organizing my findings after some time of searching for relevant sources, I use the research matrix to organize my findings I make 4 folders on my computer and I start putting in the relevant info into each one. I think this is a useful academic task to have and this entire subject is most likely to be vital in 3 rd and 4 th year however I do feel that this subject
