(unity logo) Hey today im going to be talking about the project work this week I just spent the week making sure the game works and everything runs smoothly I also looked for some assets to put into my game because as of right now it’s still just cubes however most of the assets where paid and I don’t really want to buy them also im not too familiar with blender yet and even though I tried my had at making some assets it would take me forever to make them all so I made the creative decisions to just really show off what I have made and not bother with assets especially ones I did not make . I reworked a level for the game making scripts work differently and what not to make doors work and place in the transition screen apart from that my game is almost finished and I have to work on a few more movement problems I encountered with my player character

Alpha

Image
(Unity screenshot) Today I will be discussing the alpha of my game and how I am getting on with making it. I have been working making the door work with different coloured pressure pads. This was slightly difficult to figure out as each pressure pad needed to be different as it would activated by a crate of the same colour. I had this bugging me for a bit of time but eventually I assigned each one a tag according its colour and I assigned each crate a tag so they are triggered by the specific crate. I also figured out how to make the door only open once for each crate so you cannot open the door with just one crate by taking it off and put it on. I made a prototype level sort of a tutorial and it’s playable This is a big development for me because I thought it would take me way longer to figure out how to link the crate to the pressure pad. The fact I figured it out now I can now focus on getting assets and making the puzzles this makes creating the final game much easier as I esse...

First playable

Image
(simple drawing) Im going to be talking about my game prototype I have currently developed a prototype of my game which is playable I still have a lot of kinks to work but hopefully once I figure out how to make the puzzles work the game should be a breeze to complete. I simply need to match each movable object with a tag and make it so when that object is placed on a specific pressure pad it opens the door I also need to make the door open and close when there is no item on the pressure pad. This shouldn’t be hard. As soon as I work out all these kinks I can move on to the puzzles themselves I have drawn out a prototype puzzle of something similar I want in the game but I might work on it al little more so it works better. I will also try get some feedback from fellow colleagues for some puzzles to improve hem and make them more fun and challenging. I hope to work out the kinks next week and begin making the first level soon. This will most likely be a somewhat tutorial leve...

Game Vision Statement

(Image of a low poly giant broken down) (https://i.ytimg.com/vi/cbLrAI7GWnA/maxresdefault.jpg) Hello today I'm discussing the pitch for a game I'm interested in making let’s begin.   I’m interested in making a puzzle game with a ruin exploration theme. The puzzle game was an interested of mien to make I was always fascinated with games like portal how they can make you think differently about puzzles and getting from a to be I intend to make a game where the user will be challenged and will have to think about what they’re doing and figure out how to get to a place.    The theme of ruin exploration interests me. I'm inspired by movies like Indian Jones where he must figure out his way around traps to stay alive and get the treasure. Something like the Lego video games where you must push certain things into place or stand on button or place certain elements in different place. All these features I intend to be included in the game along with jumping puzzle...

Game Idea Research

(Picture of several cogs) (https://www.theknowledgeguru.com/dev/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/learning-game-design-mechanics-1.png)  Hello im going to talk about some game mechanics that I think I will include in my game (Image of a door puzzle in Skyrim) (https://i.ytimg.com/vi/vWY7Nwuz5Nc/maxresdefault.jpg) Since im making a puzzle game I want to include some interesting puzzles. I am reminded of exploring ancient ruin is Skyrim with an artefact on this artefact there would be an inscription and eventually you would get to a door where you would have to turn several wheels of picture for them to match up and in turn open the door I was thinking of including something similar to this in my game. (Picture of the game temple run) (https://www.ghacks.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/temple-run-2.jpg) I was also thinking about how when Indiana Jones takes the golden statue in the first movie the temple starts collapsing.  I was wondering if the game would maybe turn into a quick rac...
