Unity Tutorial 05

(Unity logo) (https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/1/19/Unity_Technologies_logo.svg/1024px-Unity_Technologies_logo.svg.png) Hello today im going to talk about the unity tutorial for this week   I found the tutorial to be very long I sent a lot of time on the tutorial but it taught me a lot about movement and animation. It was useful to find out how animations work in unity and how to make it work with the scripts. Another things that was interesting is how the game is fooling the player to think that he is moving. I think a lot of games use smoke and mirrors to fool the player into believing they are something else then they are example being that the barriers are moving to the left and the background is moving to the left and the player is standing still. Many video games do this especially with backgrounds which look 3d but are actually 2d sprites. The unity tutorial also helped me because im thinking of putting in some jumping puzzles into my game whic...

Games GDD

(gif of a guy playing on a arcade machine) (https://schoolofgamedesign.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/pixel_acade.gif) Hello today im going to be talking about the game design document also known as a gdd. A Gdd is important to every game it outlines what the game is. It’s similar to a business plan it outline what the game is how it works and what is needed to achieve the final game.   The Gdd is a document consisting of all the parts of the video game some of the being story, dialogue, graphics, sound, music, special mechanics, basic mechanics, concept at of the game, the game schedule, what happens when you lose, how you progress, special items. All these things would go in to the game design document to help a person reading the document the kind of game you are making. This document will also help the game design team communicate on what they are doing and what others are doing. The game schedule will also give people goals to achieve and by when they have to ac...

Reading Week

Image
(The word challenge) (https://challenge.ie/images/logo2@2x.png) Hey im going to talk about the things I learned about in reading week.   The tutorial was very useful I feel that I could include projectiles in my game as a sort of puzzle the removing of the objects is very useful not only when they engage with projectiles but with different additions like keys opening doors could also delete the door in a way so this could be useful for my game.   The other things im not really sure how to include Im sure they will be useful in the future especially the custom methods and functions. I feel I could use the custom functions to solve problems with my game but im not exactly sure how I can do it right now. The challenge caught me thinking for a while but eventually I figured out what to do and I solved the challenged. Im glad it was a bit difficult so I can work on the skills I already know in different ways. I hope you enjoyed reading see you soon.

Game Vision Statement

(Image of a low poly giant broken down) (https://i.ytimg.com/vi/cbLrAI7GWnA/maxresdefault.jpg) Hello today I'm discussing the pitch for a game I'm interested in making let’s begin.   I’m interested in making a puzzle game with a ruin exploration theme. The puzzle game was an interested of mien to make I was always fascinated with games like portal how they can make you think differently about puzzles and getting from a to be I intend to make a game where the user will be challenged and will have to think about what they’re doing and figure out how to get to a place.    The theme of ruin exploration interests me. I'm inspired by movies like Indian Jones where he must figure out his way around traps to stay alive and get the treasure. Something like the Lego video games where you must push certain things into place or stand on button or place certain elements in different place. All these features I intend to be included in the game along with jumping puzzle...

Unity Tutorial 03

(Unity logo) (https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/1/19/Unity_Technologies_logo.svg/1024px-Unity_Technologies_logo.svg.png) Hey im going to talk about the Unity tutorial for this week This week was a very interesting week the Unity tutorial had a lot of info that hopefully should be useful for the future. Setting up boundaries that the player cannot cross is a useful tool so players do not enter parts of the map they are not intended for hopefully I can expand this into a 3d space alter on however it was good stepping stone . The most important part of the this unity tutorial I my opinion was the prefabs and the randomiser this in my opinion will be useful to many people who have items that can be used multiple times however im still wondering how too make this animals continuously spawn I hope this will be explained in a later tutorial.   I am very excited for upcoming tutorials and thinking of ways to incorporate the game mechanics they teach you into...

( iamge of a gold picture frame) ( https://i.pinimg.com/736x/42/db/08/42db088e9fccd7c026ed54a501e727c1.jpg) Hey im going to talk about the reading for this week about the mda design framework. The mda design framework means mechanic dynamic and aesthetic. I do not feel like I fully understand what the design framework yet I feel if I watch a few more videos or read more articles I will get a better understanding but from the article is that the mechanics are a smaller to building blocks of the game like jumping or swimming or looting which help the game progress and move forward. The dynamic is how the players input affect he mechanics and what outputs it in turn creates. Finally the aesthetic is what emotions the player has towards the game due to the mechanics and dynamics. I feel from my understanding after reading the two articles and watching the video provided that the mda design framework is useful to test how a game is going to affect players and how will consumers re...

Feedback Strategies

(picture of man looking at the word feedback) (https://blog.edesk.com/resources/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/4-creative-ways-to-ultilize-negative-feedback-min.jpg) Hey im going to talk about the two articles I read on feedback and go back to week two and read one on time management. First article (https://www.businessinsider.com/some-common-time-managements-fails-2016-7?r=US&IR=T#they-get-distracted-easily-3) is on how unsuccessful people mismanage there time.   The article talks about how people do not manage there time, correctly and the ways they do it. The first thing is they do not schedule this makes people late for scheduled things like trains buses etc. IT then states that they do not record or have a list which feeds into an article from week two that was all about checklists. The article then goes on to talk about getting distracted and procrastinating and how this damages there time management. The article the goes onto talk about how people who mismanage time do not...
