( iamge of a gold picture frame) ( https://i.pinimg.com/736x/42/db/08/42db088e9fccd7c026ed54a501e727c1.jpg) Hey im going to talk about the reading for this week about the mda design framework. The mda design framework means mechanic dynamic and aesthetic. I do not feel like I fully understand what the design framework yet I feel if I watch a few more videos or read more articles I will get a better understanding but from the article is that the mechanics are a smaller to building blocks of the game like jumping or swimming or looting which help the game progress and move forward. The dynamic is how the players input affect he mechanics and what outputs it in turn creates. Finally the aesthetic is what emotions the player has towards the game due to the mechanics and dynamics. I feel from my understanding after reading the two articles and watching the video provided that the mda design framework is useful to test how a game is going to affect players and how will consumers re...
(stack of pages) Today im going to be talking about the unity tutorial for this week. This week’s tutorial was familiar with me as I had top do a lot with text in the game jam, game I made. So making canvass and using text mesh pro is already familiar to me. Importing google fonts is alawys useful so knowing how to do that is useful. Formatting the text was easy as I already done it before. This tutorial was a very quick one as I knew what I was doing. Making the player be able to hold the text like a clipboard was useful swell as many unity game have instruction done like this. More snapping practice is useful to know how to optimise the vr controller still a shame I cannot test it due to not having a vr headset.
(unity logo) (https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/1/19/Unity_Technologies_logo.svg/1200px-Unity_Technologies_logo.svg.png) I want to start off with some basic player movement so he can walk and jump, after this I will try and design some levels. I start of by watching several tutorials on player movement just so I refresh my memory on the topic. I wanted to make movement WASD and make the camera third or first person. I began to make this happen the movement didn’t take me a while to make but I was reminded of the game Grim Fandango and then I thought of making player movement based on clicking. I watched several tutorials on how to achieve this. The click movement gain did not take a while to make. I can see in the future pathing of the player being an issue. I want the camera of each section being static and being able to look over the entire level from a corner. I also tried my hand at some level design but I scraped everything I made as I was not happy wi...
